Sealing of first time convictions

Felons have a hard time finding employment and housing. I am asking the government to pass a law that will allow first time felons to have their convictions sealed and/or blocked. I understand this wouldn't be nessecary if people didn't commit crimes; however, ever one that have a criminal conviction is a criminal
